At Happy Home Psychotherapy and Wellness, teen therapy is about having a space that’s yours - a space where you can say what’s actually on your mind, feel met with respect, and get support that fits who you are and where you’re at. If you’re a teen in Toronto or elsewhere in Ontario, and something in you is curious about therapy, you’re welcome here.

Is Therapy a Good Fit for You?

Therapy might be helpful if you:

  • Feel anxious or on edge a lot of the time, or get stuck in loops of overthinking.

  • Struggle with perfectionism, people‑pleasing, or a really harsh inner critic.

  • Experience social anxiety, friendship drama, bullying, or feeling left out or “too much.”

  • Feel misunderstood at home, or are dealing with family conflict, separation, or divorce.

  • Have gone through trauma, emotional abuse, or experiences that still feel too big, confusing, or overwhelming to talk about.

  • Are going through a breakup, friendship shifts, or questions about who you are and where you fit.

  • Notice low mood, shutdown, numbness, or feeling disconnected from yourself, your body, or other people.

Therapy isn’t about “fixing” you. It’s about helping you build a kinder relationship with yourself, find more steadiness in your body, and have more options for how you respond to stress, relationships, and big life transitions.

Why Teens Feel at Home Here

Simply put, I respect teenagers as people. It makes sense if the idea of talking to an adult about your life feels awkward, risky, or just a lot. I don’t expect you to spill everything right away, and I won’t push you to talk about things you’re not ready to go near.

Working with me usually feels like:

  • Being treated like a whole person, not a problem or a diagnosis.

  • Having your perspective taken seriously - I’m not here to automatically side with parents, teachers, or “what you should do.”

  • Making space for what life is actually like for you: at school, at home, online, in your friendships, and in your body.

  • Using curiosity, slowness, and sometimes humour to make hard things feel a bit more manageable to touch.

How We Might Work Together

Because therapy is not one size fits all, we’ll shape our sessions around what actually feels supportive for you. That might look like:

  • Talking about what’s happening at school, at home, and online in a real, non‑judgmental way.

  • Exploring your feelings, patterns in friendships and relationships, and how earlier experiences might still be affecting you now.

  • Noticing how emotions show up in your body (tight chest, racing heart, heaviness, numbness) and practising small ways to feel safer and more grounded.

  • Learning tools for anxiety, negative self‑talk, perfectionism, and everyday stress (tests, presentations, social situations, messages left on read).

We go slowly enough that your system can keep up, while still gently nudging what’s stuck. The goal isn’t to turn you into some “better” version of yourself; it’s to help you feel more like you, with a bit more space to breathe.

In‑Person vs Online Therapy for Teens

I offer both in‑person teen counselling in Toronto and online teen therapy for clients across Ontario. Both can be meaningful, and we can talk together about what might work best for you and your nervous system.

I do strongly recommend starting with in‑person sessions when that’s possible. Most teens already spend a lot of their lives on screens, and meeting face‑to‑face can:

  • Make it easier to build trust and a real sense of connection.

  • Support your nervous system to settle through body language, pacing, and shared space.

  • Create a grounded, real‑world room that feels different from school, social media, or gaming online.

Once we’ve built a foundation in person, we can decide together whether it makes sense to stay in person, move online, or mix both.

Let’s meet for a free 20‑minute consultation and you get to decide if I am the right fit for you.
